No. You register with just a username of your choice – no mobile number and no mandatory email.

All messages are end-to-end encrypted, using the same proven approach as Signal (X3DH and Double Ratchet). Only you and your contact can read them – the server only sees ciphertext.

Yes. Besides text there are images, voice messages, file attachments, reactions, replies and forwarding. Everything is transmitted encrypted.

Yes. There are encrypted voice and video calls right in the browser over a peer-to-peer connection.

Yes. PriChat runs in the browser and can be added to the home screen as an app on iOS and Android.

Yes. There are encrypted group chats with up to 30 members, admin roles and member management. Each message is encrypted individually for every member.

Yes. You can set up a passkey and unlock the app with Face ID, fingerprint or your device PIN. Your data key is sealed inside your device's security chip, not on the server.

Yes. You can enable 2FA via an authenticator app (TOTP, by QR code). Then a password alone is no longer enough to sign in.

One move wipes the local messages and keys of selected contacts and signs you out. You decide in advance which contacts are affected. Your account stays, and you can sign in again later.

Yes. You can export your data encrypted and load it back in on another device. Note: your old message history is tied to your device and does not automatically move when you switch devices.

The interface is available in German, English, Spanish and French.

With the 12-word recovery phrase from sign-up you can restore access. Without it we cannot decrypt your data – there is no spare key on our side.
